Spilt The Pot

Our weekly Split The Pot draw takes place in Martinstown NS each Friday. Envelopes for the draw are available from all families in the school. You can enter by putting your name and contact number on an envelope and placing €2 inside.

Half of the money entered into the draw is given in prize money, and the other half goes towards the school playground fundraiser.

This fundraising project was decided by the students of our school following their monthly Student Council meetings. The plan was proposed, discussed and enthusiastically researched by the Student Council, it was then pitched to the student body who fully supported the idea. The plan was approved the Board of Management, and our first Split the Pot draw took place on 14th May 2021. The agreed target for this project in €20,000. The total raised as of 21st September 2023 is €13,468. It is hoped we can begin initial ground works for the project in the autumn of 2023.

The aim of this project is to further enhance the play facilities available to all students in the school. The equipment will be of high quality and promote inclusive opportunities for play for all children. The educational benefits of having high-quality play equipment for children of all ages in a school setting include:

  • Encourages outdoor playing
  • Improves the physical health of children, improves coordination, balance, motor skills
  • Develops social skills among children
  • Develops the creativity of children
  • Improves the learning of pupils
  • Develops the talents of children
  • Supports the mental health and wellbeing of children

Our school fully embraces and supports the benefits of learning through play, so this project will further enhance the opportunities we can provide for the children.

We thank you all for your continued support of this fundraising initiative, it is very much appreciated.
