Dear Parents,

We hope you are all healthy and keeping well, as we now approach the end of a memorable school year. Since our closure in March we have engaged with families via SeeSaw, Padlet, Text-A-Parent and the school website. Thank you to, staff, pupils and parents for their continued engagement and positive feedback as we all adapted to this this new way of learning.

Ms. Crowe: As Ms. Crowe comes to the end of her time with us we wish her every success in her future career. She was a wonderful addition to the school during Mrs. Kirby’s maternity leave. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Kirby back for the final week of the school term.

Communion & Confirmation: Bishop Leahy hopes to begin First Holy Communion and Confirmation ceremonies in August. We encourage parents of Communion and Confirmation recipients to register at the following link, as requested by Bishop Leahy. http://www.martinstownns.com/2020/06/sacramental-registration/

Graduation: Graduation ceremony for 6th class pupils will be held on Monday 22nd at 11am on Zoom. A link will be sent to all 6th class parents.

Teacher Allocation: The following is the teacher class allocations for school year 2020/21:

  • Juniors/Seniors – Mrs. Kirby
  • 1st/2nd class – Ms. Anglim
  • 3rd/4th class – Ms. Butler
  • 5th/6th class – Mr. Gilbourne
  • Resource – Ms. Clarke
  • Learning Support – Ms. Thornton

Book Rental and Photocopying: The cost of Book Rental remains that same at €50 per child and photocopying charge will be €25 per family. Payments can be made when school reopens in September.

Refunds: Refunds for swimming and school tours have been issued. If you requested a refund and have not yet received it please email the school.

Clár Funding: We are in the process of submitting another application to resurface the church car park. As we were second on the list of applications last year, we would hope to be successful this year. We are also submitting an application for a school playground and all-weather surface play area. We will keep you updated on these applications.

Amber Flag.: We are delighted to announce that our Amber Flag has arrived. Well done to Ms. Butler and 5th and 6th class for all the hard work they’ve put in this year. We look forward to raising it when school reopens.

School Opening: School will reopen on Friday 28th August, this date is subject to change when the Government issues new guidelines.

New Entrants: We look forward to welcoming our 8 new Junior Infants when we reopen on Friday 28th August. Mrs. Kirby will be in contact with infant parents shortly.

Afterschool: Afterschool service is available from Sunshine Kids Kilfinane, homework time, home cooked warm snack, activities available each day.  Funding available for parents through National Childcare Scheme Contact Melissa for more information 0872726627.

Thank you to the Board of Management for their support throughout the year. Policies which were reviewed and updated this year include: Admissions Policy, Whistle-blower Policy, Substance Abuse Policy and Code of Behaviour.

We continue to pray for Daithi and his family every day, we wish him well on his road to recovery.

Best wishes to our 6th class, we wish them every success in secondary school. We look forward to their traditional return visit in September.
