Maternity Leave: We are delighted to welcome Ms. Crowe to the staff, she has received a very warm welcome from pupils and parents. We hope she enjoys her time teaching in Martinstown NS. Mr. Gilbourne has been appointed as Acting Deputy Principal for the duration of Mrs. Kirby’s maternity leave.

Bag Packing: A sincere thank you to all who helped and supported the bag packing fundraiser earlier in the month. A total of €2502.60 was collected for the school. We are aware this is a busy time of year for all families and your support was greatly appreciated.

Debate Team: Congratulations to our school debate team who were successful in the first round of the Concern Primary School Debate. They will take part in the second round in January.

Basketball: 5th and 6th class enjoyed a basketball training and blitz in Kilmallock secondary school recently, arranged by Thomas Mulvey from the Morning Star Basketball Club. Well done to all who took part.

School Performances: Following wonderful in-school performances from all classes this term – Infant room “Greatest Showman” music performance, 2nd class enactment of “The Teachers of Martinstown” and 3rd-6th class “Martinstown’s Got Talent” we can safely say Martinstown HAS Got Talent!! We are very proud of all our pupils who entertained us with their amazing talents, well done everyone.

Christmas Nativity and Carol Service: We enjoyed a lovely evening in the church for our Christmas Nativity and Carol Service. A huge amount of work goes into preparing for this event every year. I would like to thank Ms. Crowe, Ms. Anglim, Louise and all our pupils and staff for their efforts in making this such a wonderful evening for our school community. A big thank you to Colette, Ann and Noreen who shared their time and musical talents to support us this year.

Charitable Donations: We were overwhelmed with the support from all families this term, who were so generous in their donations to Adapt House, Senior Citizen Christmas Hampers and St. Vincent de Paul (a total of €462.50 was collected for SVP at our Christmas Carol Service). In particular, we were delighted to see the kind donations of old toys from our 5th and 6th class pupils to St. Vincent de Paul this week. Thank you to all for your support.

Staff Meeting: A staff meeting will take place on Thursday 9th January, the school will close at 1.30.

Parent Teacher Meetings: Parent teacher meetings will take place the last week in January (27th– 31st). Parents can contact the school after the 9th January to arrange appointments with class teachers.

Re-opening: School will reopen Monday 6th January. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and every good wish for the New Year.
